Did You Know?

Archeological evidence shows that crooked teeth have been a problem since the time of Neanderthal man (about 50,000 BC). (Source: Orthodontics in 3 millennia. Chapter 1: Antiquity to the mid-19th Century; American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, February 2005, p. 255.)

Getting Started

Before braces are placed on the teeth, patients must visit a dentist for a routine dental exam and take care of any necessary fillings. Orthodontic treatment time usually lasts anywhere from 12 to 30 months. Dr. Jackson requires that patients continue to visit the dentist every 6 months for thorough examinations and cleanings during orthodontic treatment. Before each orthodontic appointment, patients are encouraged to brush their teeth. Toothbrushes and toothpaste are provided in the office.

Convenient Appointments

We strive to schedule your orthodontic appointments to fit your busy lifestyle. Our staff makes every effort to accommodate each patient’s schedule. In order to help us continue to schedule efficiently, 24-hour notice is required to cancel an appointment.

Treatment Time

Orthodontic treatment may last from 12 to 30 months, though this will vary depending on your individual case. Appointments are typically scheduled 10 to 12 weeks apart. Your cooperation in keeping scheduled orthodontic appointments, maintaining proper oral hygiene and taking care of your braces may allow you to finish your orthodontic treatment early.

Communication

Written correspondence is given to our patients during most appointments. If a parent is not present during an appointment, the child will be given these documents. Please make sure that you receive and review any pertinent information. We are happy to answer any questions that you have and we encourage you to call us if you have questions about you or your child’s orthodontic treatment.
